Autumn's in the air

Today the weather's been pretty autumnal. Chilly, cloudy and a bit rainy. Yep, autumn's coming.
Passing by an open air market I spotted this lovely winter cherry (Physalis) and I brought it home. I love its deep orange tiny "lanterns"! I put it in a vintage milk churn I bought some time ago. And here's my other purchase - little ceramic bird.

Postcards from the past

Urban and rural living in the past centuries, some photos from Łowicz. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and experience the life my ancestors lived.

Feeling blue?

Not at all! But I've got nothing against blue colour. Here are my new purchases and gifts. I got the rosary and those lovely cups from Bolesławiec (famous Polish pottery manufacture) when I was in Breslau. And the creamer as well as Madonna figurine were bought in Łowicz. Here are some photos of the museum in Łowicz showing traditional rural home from the XIX/XX century.

I'm back from Wrocław (Breslau). It was a short trip but unfortunately I couldn't stay any longer. It is a picturesque and amazing city. There are many old buildings, narrow streets, bridges and there's a wonderful Old Town Market Square. I fell in love with the city immediately. And I was surprised with so many dwarves sculptures :) They're so cute.

The cat that walked by himself

This cat image reminded me of a story by R. Kipling I read as a child. I was thinking what to use as the motif for the third box from the 3-piece set. And I found a napkin with cats. This one was small enough to fit the box. I also added a very slight golden shading and a bit of shabbiness. And the top is deep brown.

Since I couldn't get my usual paint I had to try something new. And I must admit this paint is really good. Quite thick but water soluble, dries quickly, applies easily though may require few coats to fully cover the surface. And it's cheap. I'm satisfied with the paint. If you tried it too, I'd be greatful for your opinion.

Something new, something white

When I saw this pretty ceramic cake stand I thought it's something right for me. Sometimes I just can't resist when it comes to lovely tableware.

And the cake stand has a little crown ornament. It may look a bit kitschy but I don't mind as long as I really like the general look.
